ALBERTINI WINDOW
  PIVOT WINDOW
Swing from the side or pivot from the middle. Others pivot from both the bottom (like a hopper) and the side (like a casement). This allows for cleaning the outside of the window from the inside of the house and can be a valuable feature if a window is in a location where it’s difficult to get at from the outside.

ROOF SYSTEMS

Steel Joist
Steel is 100% non-combustible, easy to handle, mold resistant, strong and easily fabricated
Pre-engineered and pre-fabricated by truss professionals

        Wood Truss
The wood truss roof is built with the beams in an A shape overlapping the bottom beam. Beams running from the top to the bottom add support. The trusses are shaped like a big A and a little A, and are secured with braces, usually metal, for added strength. Each truss is made until there are enough to build the roof.
                                                                               Rafter
normally leaves the center of the roof void fairly open, whereas the standard design of roof trusses obstructs the space.

Wall Systems

WOOD STUD FRAMING
vertical wood studs are attached to horizontal sole plates and top plates at regular intervals.  windows and doors are framed with headers, sills, and reinforced studs.

WOOD POST & BEAM
framework of vertical posts and horizontal beams carry floor & roof loads.  'skeleton' is often left exposed.

MASONRY
brick facing is laid on outside of masonry blocks on a concrete footing.

Foundation Systems

PIER FOUNDATION
similar to a deck built several feet above the ground. It is supported by pillars and posts or pilings.

PILE FOUNDATION
may be: cast in place-concrete poured into ground
cased- steel pipe in ground then filled
uncased- cased concrete 'plug' placed & case removed
micropiles- small diameter drilled & reinforced

WALL FOUNDATION
includes footing, drainage system, and a cast in place wall.

SLAB FOUNDATION
flat concrete pad poured onto ground which works well on level ground in warmer climates.

Building Systems

Plumbing ~ transports clean water as well
as wast water throughout a building

Directional ~ escalators provide directional
movement

Accessibility~  ensures spaces & buildings are
accessible to people with physical disabilities

Communication ~ ways in which individuals
within a building are able to communicate, such
as network connections
Electrical ~ safely distributes power supply
to outlets as well as lights

HVAC ~ moves air throughout interior spaces for comfort of occupants
LIFE SAFETY ~ fire control systems help ensure
the safety of occupants
Lighting ~ energy is converted for
use by light fixtures, illuminating interior
spaces
Security ~ various tools such as movement
and smoke detectors are connected to
uphold security
Enclosure ~ insulation and exterior finish material
creates a shell or envelope around the building
Egress ~ this basement window has
been designed and installed to
allow egress in an emergency
Structural ~ transmits applied gravity & loads safely to the ground
Vertical Conveyance ~ elevators
allow vertical movement inside a building
